Arizona Monsoon Season Winding Down
The official Arizona Monsoon Season is coming to a close...This is the first year that the Monsoon Season is running on set dates. According to the National Weather Service the official monsoon season is now from June 15th through September 30th. Although we had a very active monsoon during the month of August, September was very quiet from the rumblings of afternoon thunderstorms. There is a slight chance of rain in Northern Arizona during the next couple of days; other than that the daytime temps are running about 95 degrees in the Phantom Ranch/Bright Angel Campground area of the Inner Canyon. The chance of violent afternoon thunderstorms has diminished dramatically with average precipitation dropping from a high of 1.5 inches in August to less than a half-inch in November.
On another note: I'd like to thank all those (mostly family & friends) that attended the book signing and presentation at my hometown library in North Brookfield, MA. It is was very heart warming to see the renovations done to the Haston Free Public Library - all done with the help of local officials, friends of the library, and Library Director Ann Kidd. Many thanks!
