Winter Hiking and Driving Conditions

Winter driving conditions prevail as another storm approaches Northern Arizona. Please drive carefully when traveling in the Arizona High Country.

Remember too that hikers entering the Canyon should be using crampons, cleats, or some other footware traction device. Ice and snow will remain on the upper 500 - 1,000 feet of any trailhead until Spring of 2009. The General Store at the South Rim carries various cleats/crampons.
